This exhibit explores Eichler Homes, and Joseph Eichler’s dream of affordable contemporary homes, which he built from 1949 to 1974. Through photos, mid-century modern furnishings, and memorabilia, the story of an era filled with optimism and prosperity will shine a light on the structural building blocks that make Eichler living so appealing.
This exhibit showcases artistic response to the question: "Los Altos is a community of ...", by K-6 students participating in the Los Altos School District's 4-week summer school program at Almond School. The art project provides a unique opportunity to express creativity around this theme. Resulting works are on display in the J.Gilbert Smith House Gallery and first floor conference room.
